Chartered in 1960, BPUB provides essential electric, water, and wastewater infrastructure to the southernmost tip of Texas, serving as a pillar of community growth.

For over six decades, BPUB has been the driving force behind the infrastructure of the southernmost tip of Texas. Formally chartered by the city in 1960, we are dedicated to providing reliable electrical, water, and wastewater solutions to our expanding community.

As a Municipally Owned Utility (MOU), we are ranked among the largest in the state and nation. We take pride in setting the standard for customer-focused operations, ensuring that the value we create stays right here in the Brownsville area.

Governance & Leadership

We operate under a charter that delegates the management and control of the city’s combined utility systems to the BPUB Board of Directors. This ensures local accountability and community representation.
